Day of the Dead 2008

Day of the Dead is not celebrated in the Yucatan as it is in the rest of Mexico. Here’s a rundown of some local traditions and the events you can expect to see in the next few days…

Merida Events: Day of the Dead and More

The cultural events keep coming, with lots of great musicians and singers all throughout the week, as well as the Russian ballet and other dance events. At the end of the week, Day of the Dead altars will be set up (on Friday) in the main square (the Plaza Grande)… don’t miss it!

Merida Events: Oktoberfest in Mexico

Merida Events: Otoño Cultural Begins!

This week marks the beginning of the Otoño Cultural, the Autumn Culture Festival, in the Yucatan. The snowbirds are starting to fly in for the winter and the locals are starting to cool off and prepare for a lively winter season ahead. Look for art openings this week and a special performance opening the Festival by Celso Pena, one of Mexico’s most important musicians.
