The cultural events keep coming, with lots of great musicians and singers all throughout the week, as well as the Russian ballet and other dance events. At the end of the week, Day of the Dead altars will be set up (on Friday) in the main square (the Plaza Grande)… don’t miss it!

The biggest fiesta this week is a transplanted one: Octoberfest! Germany has always had a thing for Mexico, after all. Why shouldn’t the favor be returned? There’s also a Mexico-Germany Trio at the Daniel Ayala Theater this week, and a German musician at the Teatro Merida. Viva Allemagne!

This week marks the beginning of the Otoño Cultural, the Autumn Culture Festival, in the Yucatan. The snowbirds are starting to fly in for the winter and the locals are starting to cool off and prepare for a lively winter season ahead. Look for art openings this week and a special performance opening the Festival by Celso Pena, one of Mexico’s most important musicians.
