There is a new little place with paintings of Concepcion Sanchez and Don Jose Gongora on the corner of Calle 64 and 47A. They are open 10 to 5 during the week.

Cafe Chocolate is an extremely welcome addition in Santa Ana. As the Working Gringos report, everything is for sale. This includes some really interesting and nicely restored furniture, beautiful rehabilitated chandeliers, and some great original art. Notably, the quality of the for-sale items is consistently high and the prices are consistently low.

Even more important to me however (since I am not a major consumer) is that fact that this is a cafe/restaurant that El Centro really needs. It has a calm vibe, excellent food, and very nice service. One of the things I like best about this place is that it is very lively in the evenings when Meridanos gather to eat cena here. It seems that at any given time, there are more Mexicans than ex-pats enjoying the mellow mood and the good food. This is a real rarity for a Centro restaurant that is trying to give itself a somehat sophisticated vibe, at least in my experience. And, of course, it doesn't hurt that the (limited) menu is well executed and really inexpensive.

Finally, wireless internet is on tap!

This place is a find.
