Opera YucatanOpera Yucatan

Opera Yucatan is a small and growing non-profit organization committed to promoting opera in Merida and the surrounding area. Besides promoting the occasional live opera that is performed by the Symphonic Orchestra of Yucatan (usually one per year at this writing), the group has begun showing a season of filmed operas at the Siglo XXI movie theatres. One of their immediate goals is to raise enough money and interest to present the New York Metropolitan Opera’s “Live at the Met” satellite broadcasts here in Merida.
