While this article is most interesting I would like to have heard more detail re the birthday girl and perhaps her hopes and aspirations. I found the article gives us a good build-up but quickly lets us down with a royal thump. The story went from arriving at the Mayan puebla and describing the party venue but then two short paragraphs quickly wind up the whole event. From what I have heard and read about quinceanos occasions surely this young lady must have had dreams of a beautiful future as a "coming out" adult and I would take it that her party would have been a grand event. I come from a background where money was not plentiful but when an important event such as a milestone birthday or a wedding came around then the whole village participated and I am sure this must have been the case with the featured young lady.

Such a beautiful girl. The Yucatecans are a truly beautiful people. If I lived there, I think I would set up a photography business and give away portraits, just for the opportunity to document their graceful faces.
