Hi. I really enjoyed this video. I'm thinking in moving back to Mexico. However, I'm looking forward to live in a small city like Merida. I was born in a city located in the north of Mexico but I don; want to live the last days of my life in a big city.

Thanks
Tish

The post regarding gremios in Merida works better with out the comma after the URL http://www.clas.ufl.edu/users/afburns/merida2000/relig/psaint.html

I love reading Yucatan Living, and I really enjoyed this post about gremios. My tiny Latin American dictionary translates gremio as a trade union. In another post on gremios, http://www.clas.ufl.edu/users/afburns/merida2000/relig/psaint.html, they say that "gremios are religious organizations but are independent from the church and operate autonomously. In fact, the leader of the first gremio, Trabajadores y Coheteros, does not even attend mass. The allegiance of the gremios is to the saint-- not the church, resulting in conflicts." Both of these posts are interesting reading. Thanks for your insights on such a beautiful tradition.

Hey i would just like to tell you guys that you guys did a good job in this article, and i would like to add that next time if you guys get to go down there again to the other pueblos you guys should go the CORRIDAS. They are almost like the ones that they have in Mexico City but more traditional. I know for a fact that all the things that were said in this article were true since i was raised in OXKUTZCAB and lived there for 13 years.
