BTW Right next to the Cementerio General are the Panteón Florido and Jardines de Paz, which are smaller.. However, there was something on the Santa Ana portion of the report which left me puzzled: "While Santa Lucia was the site of the first cemetery in Merida, it was soon moved to Santa Ana where it existed until the 1880’s when it was moved to its current location in San Sebastian." Is this to say that Merida's cementery is located in San Sebastian? I might be mistaken but I don't think that is the case. I spoke with my wife (also a <em>yucateca </em>who's mother is buried at the "old cemetery") and she tells me the cemetery is not in San Sebastian (I went once to the cemetery when I was a child and frankly I don't remember where it is located but I never thought it was in Merida's centro). If you want to see the division of <em>colonias </em>and <em>fraccionamientos </em>you can use the SIG (check website) but it counts Santiago, San Sebastian, San Cristobal, Santa Ana and Ermita as part of the Centro.
