Hola, Mariana!

We agree: Merida is beautiful, but you're also right about how we older, gingo types are a bit more charmed by the colonial and Mayan stuff (and even those old Vochos, frankly). After all, if all we wanted from life was to live in a modern, "pretty" place, we would probably still live in the United States.

But just for you, we've added a section to our photo gallery called Modern Merida, so you can show all your friends that the people down here aren't taking a siesta on a burro all day long.

Thanks for writing!

I love this web page, the only thing I would like to see next time is more pictures of Merida (the city) not the Tourist zone that "gringos" love. I am from Merida, I married a guy from U.S.A. which is where I live now, I would love to see the real city and more pictures from other stuff so the people that don't know about Merida, or haven't been there would think is more like another small city in the United States. There are a lot of ignorant people around where I live, who think there is no cars in Merida, or there is no pavment streets, and people are actually wearing big hats and drinking tequila all day long, and I would like you guys to change the way they think by showing some pretty pictures, because actully, Merida is beautiful.
What about some pictures of the Paseo de Montejo and the wonderful houses around it. Or what about the north side of the city where all you can see is beautiful houses and no Volkswagens around.
I love downtown, even I was never around, but I understand gringos find that very interesting, but I just want my friends and people I know to see the pretty part of it.
Thank you!!!
