Merida Events: Three New Fiestas and More

Fiestas Beginning This Week

Yucatan Living Valladolid Fiesta 16 Day Event
October 15 through October 29
This is the Fiesta of Cristo Rey (Christ the King). Look for leather goods, jewelry, clothing, and hammocks. This is also the land of the caballero, so horsemanship events and cattle shows will likely be on the agenda as well. For more information, see our article on Valladolid.

Yucatan Living Expo Artesanal en Santa Ana: 5 Day Event
Oct. 15 through Oct. 19Handcrafts Fair in Merida
They are setting up for this expo already, which begins on the Worldwide Day of Rural Women. The products, art and handicrafts of Yucatan’s rural women will be available for sale.

Entertainment for opening night will be provided by Dayron y el Boom! If you can’t make their big concert at Liverpool, this automatically becomes a "must see" performance!
Location: Parque de la Santa Ana, Calle 60 x 47.
Time: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM; Dayron y el Boom: 6:00 PM opening night
Admission: Free

Yucatan Living Izamal Fiesta  12 Day Event
October 19 through October 30
This is the fiesta in honor of Santo Cristo de Citilpech. Processions are related to trade associations, and especially to dairy workers. This city has been important to the Mayans continuously from the 4th century B.C. until today. This is the place where one can find a shrine to its founder, Itzamná, as well as a statue of Pope John Paul II. This really is a "must attend" fiesta in a "must visit" city.

Every week…

For ongoing events and classes in Merida,
please click our NEW Ongoing Events Page!!

On the Ongoing Events page, you will find a list of all ongoing classes and other regular events that are repeated every week. When a new class or ongoing event is announced, it will be highlighted at the top of both events pages, and then will be added to the Ongoing Events page. We hope this makes your planning easier!

As always, if you have an event for the English-speaking community of Merida that you would like to publicize, please contact us at info [at] yucatanliving [dot] com (hopefully at least a week before the event) and we will be happy to add it to our Events pages.
