The beaches all along the Gulf Coast are very nice… in the right weather! In the winter, all the beaches are subject to winds and storms from the North, and it sounds like you were there in that kind of weather. In the spring, summer and fall, the water is much calmer and clearer.

Is there a nice beach in Progreso? We have been exploring the Progreso beach…but the ocean looks very dirty because of the waves, and very windy. We have been trying to fing a good spot were the waters will be more calm. Any suggestions of a good place to go to enjoy the beaches of Yucatan???
We will be spending 2 months in Yucatan and my kids are desperate to find a good place were they go swimming into the ocean.

Carlos – thank you so much for the updates on the moving of the Museum! Do keep us posted on anything new, especially a Grand Opening date! I am very excited because this location is near my house! When they get all moved in, I look forward to meeting your wife – and you, when you come to visit.

Museo de La Ciudad moving Junio 1-15; to it’s new location in the remodeled Correos building near Mercado San Benitos. Working Yucateca, long time entrused employada de Museo is excited! She says the streets around the museo has been closed to traffic. WOW! I would love to see it when I return to my wife in Merida. I do not know when Gran Opening is. I hope all will enjoy the Nueva Museo.
