This week, we are giving you not only the fiestas that begin this week, along with the regular weekly calendar, but also the entire season’s calendars for Carnival and the Symphony. We will continue to put those events in our weekly lineup, but wanted our readers to have future dates around which special events and visits to the city can be planned.
Municipal Fiestas This Week
Only one fiesta begins this week, and only one begins next week as well. However, the following week, six fairs will begin in municipalities throughout the state. We hope you can visit and enjoy each and every one!
Temax Fiesta 7 Day Event
Last Week of January
This fiesta is in honor of la Virgen de la Purísima Concepción. This year, it begins on Saturday, January 24th. Temax is located a couple of small municipalities inland from the beach, at about the center of our coastline. They are close enough to the beach that turtles are listed as part of the wildlife found there. Of the 3,231 folks who live in Temax, 2,392 are Mayans and Mayan is the principal language spoken there. Temax has some of the most exciting recent (20th century) history in all of Yucatan. Read about it HERE.
