Merida Events: Dance and Classic Movies

This Week… starting May 21, 2012

Municipal Fiestas This WeekKinchil Fiesta

Yucatan Living Kinchil Fiesta: May 24
This fiesta is in honor of Cristo de las Ampollas. Kinchil is located between Samahil and Celestun, just 34 km southeast of Merida, so it is near enough to the city to go and see this event. Look for woven baskets of palm, rattan and bamboo here.

In The City

Yucatan Living This week, there are going to be some great events that last for multiple days. These include the V Season of Independent Dance Groups, the IV Socorro Ceron Herrera Child and Youth Talent Contest, and the V Regional Break Dance Competition: Unsurpassed Real B-boy Battle. As always, when temperatures rise, we can look for a variety of film series to begin appearing throughout the city. This week, we can take our pick from old silent films (The Scarlet Letter) to contemporary drama and romance (Goodbye Lenin). All in all, vacation is still over a month away and entertainment in the city is still going strong. Musical Tribute to Rosario Sansores
