Alan - Madam Butterfly is coming next month and the "expensive" tickets are $100 pesos. I nearly had a heart attack because they are so high - and then felt so guilty - those tickets would be hundreds and hundreds of U.S. dollars back home. shame on me! :)

Hola, Alan!
The $ is used by Mexico to denote pesos too, so when we quote a price here, it is in pesos, unless we follow it with USD (US Dollar).

The current conversion rate is about 11... in other words, 11 pesos to 1 US dollar.

So a $30 admission is about $2.50 USD... such a deal, huh?

I have been visiting your website for about six months, and as a result my wife and I plan to visit Merida this coming winter! It sounds like this was a great weekend, but I have a practical question--when you quote the price of admission to an event, are you quoting in U.S. dollars or pesos? (For example--"Turix Blue -Vocal Jazz
$30 General Admission") And if it is in pesos, what is the approximate current conversion rate?

Thanks!
