Achievements

  • I was asked by my Head of Department to provide training on our computer systems to a new office in Bristol which our company had taken over. This involved spending two weeks down there and helping the 20 members of staff to learn how to use our system.

  • I spent six months in Merida, Mexico, in 2014 and 2015 doing voluntary work. I spent six weeks on a Special Needs programme, six weeks on an Animal Care/Animal Rights programme, and two months teaching English to local children, teenagers and adults.

  • I was involved in volunteering at a Christmas dinner for the lonely, hungry and homeless on Christmas Day in 2013 and 2014 where we were able to feed around 60 people thanks to lots of generous donations and volunteers. It was a great success and we are hoping to repeat this every year.

Experience

  • Opening incoming post, date stamping and passing to the relevant individual.

  • Answering incoming phone calls and transferring them to the relevant individual.

  • Making refreshments for visitors to the office.

  • Franking outgoing post.

  • Offering assistance to the administrators when I had finished the typing.

Private Tutoring Oct-Dec 2015

I did some private one-to-one tutoring in my hometown of Leeds to foreign people who wished to improve their English. I did this for a couple of months and stopped because I wanted to concentrate on my full-time job and also to take some Spanish lessons to prepare for my move to Mexico.

Habla Teaching Assistant Jan-March 2015

Estancia Nueva Vida Teacher Jan-March 2015

Las Monjas Teaching Assistant Jan-March 2015

I spent four months in Merida, Mexico, from December 2014 to April 2015 and I spent a couple of months working as a volunteer teaching English in three different places to a variety of age groups including young children, teenagers and adults, at a variety of levels. The experience was very rewarding and greatly assisted me on the TEFL course that I was undertaking. At Estancia Nueva Vida I had my own classes and was responsible for coming up with a lesson plan each week. At the other two places I assisted the main teacher and from time to time I was able to take the lead for some activities.
