Notes: Bryan is Paul Trotter’s middle name. And this is Paul and Wayne Trotter’s latest restaurant offering in Merida, a high-energy, well-lit, upscale bar & grill. On “tasting night” before the opening, we tasted Angus steak tartare, tuna carpaccio, roasted pork with salad, all washed down by a merlot from South America and a few perfect martinis. The architecture and interior work to create a place full of energy and activity… it feels like a happening place. Nice choice of outdoor seating or indoor tables and booths. Upstairs climate-controlled wine cava gives the place a modern feel, as does the open and very active kitchen. Interesting interior treatments include a wall of wood and backlit onyx. There’s nothing new in the wine list. Same as Trotter’s, which isn’t bad, but we’re always looking for more variety, especially of California wines. Final analysis? We’ll go back.
