I must say it has been a challenging 11 years (in December), but reviews like the ones above are what make the undertaking worthwhile. Thank you all. "Nuestra casa es su casa".

I wrote this review

http://gomexico.about.com/od/meridayucatan/fr/hacien_xcanatun.htm

for Casa de Piedra Restaurant (at Xcanatun) almost a decade after my first visit there. It is now many more years later and I still feel the same way about it - and I still recommend the French Toast.

my wife and I can't wait until August 2010... We're going to be staying at this Hacienda for 4 nights... All these wonderful comments are making it harder to wait though!!! :D

We hope to take in as much as we can on those few short days... We will be traveling to Mexico for the 2nd time since our first time was our Honeymoon in 2007 in which we fell in love with the country...

Please let us know the best cultural ruins to visit and other places to get the best feel for the Yucatan... Love this website so keep up the excellent work!!!

Well, dear friends, for us the 'Hacienda' as we call it (as if it were the only one...) is PARADISE. Whenever we feel we need a 'rest' from the hard life of Merida (and we mean this jokingly, of course) we splurge at the Hacienda! Special offers of "stay 3 nights pay for 2" in one of the suites and dinner every night at the restaurant is pure luxury. The service is EXCELLENT, the people are friendly, the place is a wonderfully restored jewel. I have travelled in many, many different countries and I personally consider the 'Hacienda' one of the most beautiful hotels I have seen and stayed at. Of course the price is HIGH, but where in Europe (I compare to Europe, as I am European) can you experience pure luxury and ambiance for 325 dollars a night? and this is not one of those anonymous 'sheraton-hilton-etc' which look the same whether you are in Beijing, Singapore or New York. This is a place with a wonderful atmosphere, high ceilings, old furniture, woodcarvings, perfectly restored.

We LOVE this place! and we LOVE the fact that there are NO TV SETS in the rooms.....:=) Who needs a TV in a place like this?

Xcanatun is one of the highlights of Merida.

Great service, excellent food, beautiful setting. It doesn't get much better than this, in my opinion. I'd be surprised that anyone didn't love it. The only downside is that prices are high enough and the location a bit remote enough (from central Merida) that we can't dine there for every meal.

We once had a table of six seated promptly for a wonderful afternoon meal, while Governor Patron and several dozen acolytes dined in a private room. Their staff and kitchen were obviously quite occupied, but our service and food was excellent as always.

Highly recommended.
