Re: sheet music

I would first try the Museo de la Canción Yucateca http://www.yucatan.com.mx/especiales/museos/museo_cancionyucateca.asp

If what you are looking for isn't there, then I would contact the appropriate people on this page: http://www.mayas.uady.mx/creditos/index.html

We appreciate the input and encourage everyone here in Merida to always think as much as they can about the consequences of their actions. We're learning every day!

I want to relate an event I witnessed last year that might help explain my above comment. My wife and I along with our friend Julia attend the Los Leones baseball games. We have season tickets. One game last year, a <em>gringa </em>sat in the section where our seats are located. Just as the game ended this person pulled out two large garbage bags and proceeded to pick up the trash that fans had left around their seats. Not discreetly, but obviously to all as they filed out. It didn't matter that that stadium has a cleaning crew. The act of trash collecting was meant as a display to shame all those that had left their litter. To me, that's not change. To me it's more NOB (North of the Border) judgmental thinking on how people should behave and an arrogance to not care that the act of trash collecting might be viewed negatively (and was, judging from the comments we heard in passing) by locals. Fortunately this was a one time event otherwise we would have had to change which section we sat in for future games.

Sorry if my comment above seemed jaded as I know the intentions of the group are good. But I have witnessed too many "good intentions" by some that were not really good at all.

Well, you know, we didn't put anyone's name on the tables and chairs. And frankly, one of the points is to begin to change the view that people have built up about Americans over the last eight years. Recognition for the group....what? Friends of Obama? Call us crazy, but that doesn't seem very self serving to us.

Anyway, thank you for the input. We'll consider more anonyminity next time.
