We are also interested in the construction of the road from Sisal to Progreso. We keep hearing that with the development of Sunset Beach, Sunset Shores and a new 200 lot housing development a few miles outside Sisal the road is scheduled to begin soon and completed by the end of 2009 or early 2010.

Does anyone have any information they can share or how I can contact a government official who can tell us something. Feel free to contact us at the below listed web-site

Thanks,

It sounds like a good idea to build another pier to accomodate more tourism to Progreso and the Yucatan, but make sure you build it correctly with the right technical design to preserve the wildlife and moreover the beaches that have been eroding so quickly over the past few years. When is the Federal Government going to complete their beach protection plan that we keep hearing about? There is certainly no sign of it from Chelem to Chuburna. If this pier is not thought through properly, there will be no beaches left for the "tourists", let alone the residents on the beach.

The idea of inundating Chichen Itzá with an international airport to handle 600,000 tourists in is a gross affront to recognized global standards for archeology protection, historic preservation and sustainable development. The continued development greed in coastal and interior regions that is pervading the peninsula is simply disgusting. Leave Chichén, Sisal and other precious areas alone.

Despite budgetary limitations, both the Mexican postal and telegraphy operations provide adquate service throughout the country, and always have.

Congratulations for the clarification regarding the Cuban food situation. Rather than fearing an onslaught of Cuban immigration in Yucatán, folks should begin preapring for the competitive business and tourism challenges Cuba will present once the inhumane U.S. embargo is lifted.

I hope any new pier is built with arches for the water currents to pass through, rather than simply dumping huge truckloads of rocks into the ocean to build up a road. That form of building has blocked the ocean currents, leading to severe scouring of the Progreso beach. In just a few years after the extension of the current pier through rock dumping, the beach was eroded far beyond anything previously experienced.

Progress is great, but I hope better thought is put into this new project. Of course, if it is parallel with the present pier, then I seriously doubt the present one will be removed. Probably only the cement arches are cracked (they were built with stainless steel reinforcing rods). And so, probably the beautilful arches will soon be accompanied by truckloads of rocks dumped alongside. Cheap and fast without a thought to the long-term effects.

Here am again!!! You were saying about the Postal service in Mexico, Yes yes yes. That is very true. I think that it is one of the things the government needs to fix before many other things. I do very agree with you here, Buttttt (there is a But) you were saying about the Banking??????? Are you aware that your Banking system here in the US is shrinking? making water everywhere? Well, tell me now which one is better then?
