If you’ve ever walked through a hacienda or even seen a picture of one, you’ve probably dreamed of living there… walking down those long pasillos, wandering in the lush gardens, gazing out from under the tall arches.

In the Yucatan, you can do that. You can stay overnight at any number of beautifully renovated haciendas, sleeping between 400-threadcount sheets and being served by well-trained waiters in starched white guayaberas.

Step Into a Dream …

Yaxcopoil is a hacienda in a perfectly preserved state of suspended animation. The hacienda is a home that has become a museum by waiting for one hundred years. There is only one room that has been updated, the Guest House. In the Guest House, you will find a spacious room with sleeping and sitting areas and a simple but modern bathroom. Outside in the back, a lovely terrace with a checkerboard floor of mosaico tiles. And the front door opens onto the hacienda’s garden which joins the Casa Principal to the campo outside the Casa Maquina.

Here, you can wander the grounds and the gardens, read a book under the tejeban in a hammock, or sit on the front steps and watch the local village go about its day. During the day or in the evening, you can walk around the village in perfect safety, talk with the locals or just enjoy a beautiful evening in the countryside underneath the moon and stars. The best part is the silence, the quiet and the solitude. When you stay in the Yaxcopoil Guest House, you are the only one in the whole hacienda.

• 1 large bedroom/sitting room with two double beds, a dining room table and chairs, and a private outdoor patio. Room has ceiling fans.
• Ensuite bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower.
• Front door opens to hacienda gardens, to which you have full access.
• Entrance to Yaxcopoil museum (the Casa Principal of the hacienda) during daylight hours.
• Breakfast and dinner served by the local Mayan caretakers upon prior arrangement.

Prices

Double occupancy of the Guest House costs $60 US per night. Additional people (up to 2) are an additional $10 US each.
